I went from a Fascinate to the Nexus, My upgrade wasn't until September 2012. I called back in August and explained all of the issues with the Fascinate (which was true) and just asked to let me upgrade early with a new contract.
They put in a managers note saying I would call back at a later time because I had no idea what phone to choose, I honestly thought they would say no.
Call back a week ago and get a very rude CSR who scolded me for not buying the phone that day and asked me why I waited half a year to call back. When I tried to explain to her that It's not easy for everyone to come up with $300+ for a new phone (again which is true in my situation) She told me, well the phone obviously is working fine if you've waited this long. She said she wanted to accomodate me and put me on hold while I was still talking.
I waited 10 min and then hung up. A few emails to Regional managers and I got a phone call a few hours later from a woman who actually listened to what I said. I explained to her that I had no intention of using my flawless payment history or that I have been with a customer for so long, I just needed to get away from this phone and the issues that it had. She said she understood and moved up my upgrade date.
A few hours later I call Customer service to see if I could take advantage of the $100 discount and sure enough I could along with the NE2 that was on my account now. I got the phone for $149+shipping.
So far this phone has been flawless.
P.S. For those wondering what the issues with the fascinate were. GPS wouldnt lock on at all, even when selecting the google option as well. My display at times would distort or the colors would be off, Texts would not be sent/recieved, Calendar wouldn't save dates. Apps would force close and the phone would reboot at random times.
