just thought i'd share that i was able to get big red to move my update by 11 months so i could get the gnex.

My upgrade date is in 7 months....I tried my darndest to move it up...no budge!

Paid full price.

What did you say? And was it on the phone or in store?

The same with me. My upgrade date wasn't supposed to be until next August and suddenly on GNex launch date I notice that my line was listed as eligible for upgrade. Mind you, this was just after I plunked down $799 at Best Buy earlier that morning to get a GNex. I placed my order on the VZ website about 11pm Thursday night and my GNex was delivered by FedEx Saturday! Needless to say that the 1st went back. Lol.

i've had a slew of problems with my thunderbolt since day 1. its all documented on my account, so i called them and told them since they won't let me trade my phone for another (bionic) that i would like to see if i can upgrade early and extend my contract. the lady i was talking with said the ok. she put everything through and wa la, i got the gnex....loving it so far.

I was going to pay full price and sell my Razor to fund it, but as soon as i told the guy i was going to pay retail (he doesn't make money off that,) he told me that he could move my upgrade from next july up to now on one of a family members lines(fortunately my old man never upgrades so he'll never care.) I was pretty stoked because I just sold my Razor for 650, so I made a profit haha.

^ well you just took another upgrade from your plan.. no real early upgrade since it's normal to do.

my girlfriend was able to upgrade 4 months early "completely".. but only to a 3G phone.. lame.

yet they allowed her sister who is on our family plan.. to upgrade to the iPhone 4S with an actual upgrade around the same time as my girlfriend.

i go online to see my upgrade status.. and unfortunately I have to stick to a Samsung Reality until October '12 ... must be nice to get lucky.

i upgraded from my droid1 back in may to the thunderbolt.. a month later they gave me another upgrade and allowed me a $50 credit. i was going to get the bionic but decided to hold out, so glad i did it. I have no idea why or how I got the upgrade, i didnt complain or anything. i remember around the time it happened droid-life posted about tons of people were getting mad early upgrades and a lot of them seemed to be thunderbolt owners.

Just tell them another carrier is offering to pay your ETF if you switch, works every time.

i thought I was special getting upgraded early 2 weeks, and getting 100 bucks off the phone! only paid 199 for it!

My actual upgrade date isn't until next December, so I had to pay full price for mine. I kinda wish I tried haggling with them to see if I could either get a REALLY early upgrade or at least get the Nexus for a discounted price, but I find I'm not really much of a smooth talker to be able to pull anything like that off. @_@

I was able to move my date up from 6/28/12 to 12/12/11. How? I kept calling the loyalty dept and complaining that my wife was able to get a better discount from FedEx on Sprint (complete lie). My Complaints were non-stop. I told them that there plans were too hig and that I was not going to re-up when my plan was over. I told them that I wanted to save money etc etc etc. I originally got the dater moved from 6/28/12 to 4/28/12.. 2 phone calls later I was mover to 2/28/12. Another call later I get it moved to 1/28/12. My masterpiece was on 11/28/11 I called them squaking that I was just in a store and that my upgrade date was never changed to 11/28/11...yadda yadda yadda. They said the could not upgrade me and the only way that I could get upgraded on that day was to get (Write this down) an "M2" (supervisors approval) override. So after all was said and done Verizon "split" the time left on my upgrade on upgrade me on 12/12/11.
Ladies and gentlemen...on 12/15 @ 10:30 I upgraded to my GN for the low low price of $229.
And thats how it done! LOL :)

I noticed a couple weeks ago I was eligible for an upgrade even though I shouldn't be eligible till June. I did have to $20 fee for the early upgrade along with the $299 price. I got a lot of direct mail about the Razr and Rezound so I figured they were giving early upgrades to move those phones.

lol that sounds like a good idea.. wonder if it is do-able.

same here lol.

I went from a Fascinate to the Nexus, My upgrade wasn't until September 2012. I called back in August and explained all of the issues with the Fascinate (which was true) and just asked to let me upgrade early with a new contract.

They put in a managers note saying I would call back at a later time because I had no idea what phone to choose, I honestly thought they would say no.

Call back a week ago and get a very rude CSR who scolded me for not buying the phone that day and asked me why I waited half a year to call back. When I tried to explain to her that It's not easy for everyone to come up with $300+ for a new phone (again which is true in my situation) She told me, well the phone obviously is working fine if you've waited this long. She said she wanted to accomodate me and put me on hold while I was still talking.

I waited 10 min and then hung up. A few emails to Regional managers and I got a phone call a few hours later from a woman who actually listened to what I said. I explained to her that I had no intention of using my flawless payment history or that I have been with a customer for so long, I just needed to get away from this phone and the issues that it had. She said she understood and moved up my upgrade date.

A few hours later I call Customer service to see if I could take advantage of the $100 discount and sure enough I could along with the NE2 that was on my account now. I got the phone for $149+shipping.

So far this phone has been flawless.

P.S. For those wondering what the issues with the fascinate were. GPS wouldnt lock on at all, even when selecting the google option as well. My display at times would distort or the colors would be off, Texts would not be sent/recieved, Calendar wouldn't save dates. Apps would force close and the phone would reboot at random times.

And my order was just processed, 11 months ahead of my upgrade date. It took a very persistent employee, and several conversations with management, but it should be here Monday or Tuesday. Merry Christmas, indeed!

Here is what I was told tonight after calling a few times

I will be able to get an upgrade on one of the other phone lines on my account (my mom will never use it) via managerial approval, however the nexus is backordered, so they cant process it until it is in stock. There "should" be a notation on my account.

Are they really backordered? According to the rep the fruit phone is backordered too.

My order was processed yesterday, and it's currently on transit. If it's backordered, it must have happened today. Basically, I don't believe that.
