Upgrade from a G3?

Thought I'd get some feedback as I'm thinking of passing on a G4 for now.

Been a big fan of the G3 on ATT which I've had for 10 months on NEXT program. Can upgrade by paying off last 2 months and starting a new 12/20 month NEXT cycle on a G4 so it would cost me some $$ now plus a bit more over time. Best Buy $100 promo helps that a bit but its clearly a few hundred more to upgrade.

I take lots of pics with the phone so better camera a strong plus, and newer is usually better. Hoping to see some modest battery improvement which would be nice. Leather back would be nice but not really a deciding factor.

Don't really like the slightly larger from factor for same screen size. Hearing mixed reactions on sensitivity issues but assume that much of that is noise - lots of complaints about my G3 when it came out and I'm happy with it.

After seeing it at Best Buy, seems like an incremental upgrade that probably isn't worth the extra cost. May be better off keeping an upgrade in reserve for something that really impresses me.

Anyone switch from the G3 to the G4? Worth the switch (beyond the newer is usually cooler and better thought which I usually follow)?

Really I never feel it's worth the incremental upgrade of one model up anymore. Personally I am restraining my self and will only upgrade two models up. The latest phones are are make huge leaps and bounds. Tuff it out and try to keep a phone 24 months..

I have the G3 and don't even consider the G4.. It would need something really special to get me to spend money for. I'm hoping by the G5 we get two day batteries or hey how about solar charging :)

Yes, I went from G3 to G4. It's still in my house and will probably stay in the house as I think my GF wants it. I wouldn't go back to it at this point ( day 10 on G4).

Love the camera and I'm very much a novice at taking pictures but know good ones when I see them. I plan to teach myself manual mode and to use Lightroom so I can really maximize what this camera can do.

Love the leather especially now that I have a true bumper case on it. Keeps the phone really light to carry around and use.

Comparing side by side, the screen is definitely better on the 4 vs the 3.

My battery life has been outstanding.

Sure there are some issues...touch sensitivity is off a bit, Wi-Fi might still be an issue but I changed the channel on my router and it's been flawless since, and I'm hoping they add some more umph to the QC.

But those are very small complaints.

I switched from the AT&T G3 to the G4. Being on NEXT and in your situation, unless it was a straight swap without putting up cash, i recommend waiting until the G5 maybe.

It is an upgrade for sure and i like it more than the G3 but i think you'd be much happier with the next iteration.

Yep. I have a G3 that is rooted with a custom rom. It's bloat free and gets insane battery life. Do I want a G4?
Absolutely. I will be getting one the minute they drop this Friday in Canada.

I think the G4 is everything we wanted the G3 to be.
Faster, smoother, insane camera (speed and qulity of photos), brighter and more brilliant screen.....
I believe that any update response is relative and specific to the person.
I agree that a 2 year interval will cause a bigger bang, or wow moment.....shouldn't it?
Hell wait 10 years and get your socks blown off.
Back on point, an upgrade should be just that, an upgrade. Look at what is important to you and determine if that is enough to make you bite the bullet.
I sold my black G3 to get the Verizon Red G3....that was enough for me.....LOL.
So the G4 is really an upgrade from my perspective.
The size is really negligible, the G4 fits in my Seidio G3 holster, even with a Nillkin case on it.

And I got the tan leather......oh the leather....
