So I just bought my Z3 Compact, and I have to say I'm really impressed.

Now, Sony keeps bugging me to update my software to the latest, meaning lollipop. However, I heard that there are a lot of problems with lollipop on the Z3C. Thus, is it safe to upgrade it now, or should I just stay with KitKat?

I had the Z3, and Lollipop runs fine (as it does on my G4).

What problems are you concerned about?

Google threw L 5.0 out the door half-baked.
Sony did a great job and it's Z3 Compact runs well with L5.02 [currently].
L5.1 is due next month, don't know what that will bring.
I agree, it's a great phone.

Lollipop on my Z3 runs perfectly, everything works as it should be.
I dont do games, but all the otherstuff.

Good to hear some positives for L. I saw many comments when it was first available on the Z3C with regards to stability and battery life being an issue... That said, I typically avoid the v#.00 releases.

What phylez said mainly, about the battery life and stability. I heard that after lollipop, battery life will drop significantly, phone temperature will increase greatly and the inability to multi-task (like when switching apps, the apps do not resume but restart). I'm not a heavy gamer so I don't care as much about performance, but the battery life and multi-tasking ability concerns me.

So then everyone, green light?

Nope, battery life for me is the same, if not slightly better, no over heating, the phone is fast, very responsive and just delivers what its supposed to do.
I believe people that have some issues could be app related, and the broken glass, i dont have an answer, but if i drop a glass, i do expect the worse, so i have a wallet type thing.
This phone is up there with the best in its class and doesn't disappoint.
Now in saying all this, i hope nothing happens hehee

Well, I'd say so, yes, but as I said, I've had zero Lollipop issues.
