My Droid Charge is up for renewal and I am thinking S3. But, with the impending release of the S4, do you think its worth the wait?

All personal preference. Many people still feel the S3 is just as good for their needs verses what the S4 is offering. Sure there is bumps in hardware specs like processor & camera, tad bigger display but I think the biggest change Samsung focused on was software enhancements.

My sister just faced the same choice, although she had a little more pressure because her old phone was simply un-usable.

Especially as a Verizon customer, it may still be a few months before the S4 is available. If your Charge is working fine and you can live with it, then it's probably not a bad idea to wait -- thinking long term, that's probably your best bet. If, however, your Charge is crapping out on you or you're just getting really itchy to pull the trigger, I don't think getting an S3 now would be a bad decision either...that's what I recommended that my sister do. She's quite happy and impressed with the S3.

I'd say wait. Especially with 2 year contracts, that's a long time to live with a phone as fast as technology changes these days.

Or get a note 2 and you will never say what if I had bought that other phone.

I'd wait if I was coming from a Droid Charge...Having an S3, if I was eligible for an upgrade I'd wait for something else. Not worth it from the S3 to S4, but worth it from the Droid Charge to the S4. If I was going to get rid of my phone right now, I'd switch carriers to T-Mob and their new plans...and get a Nexus 4. If I switched to Sprint, I'd get an HTC One, but without LTE in my area, T-Mob would be my first choice. Tired of paying Verizon pricing already, and I just switched back in September...lol

My Charge has been acting up since the week of my contract expiration. Freezing, locking, lagging, battery dying, etc. I am doing all of these restarts, battery pulls, etc. Never had these issues until my contract expired....I can definitely wait for the S4, but, just want to know if the wait is really worth it.

Im in the same boat. I have the Droid 3 and due for upgrade on the 30th of this month. One reason I decided to go with S3 is because its a hell a lot cheaper! $100 at best buy and I signed up for the $50 best buy giftcard when you upgrade, so I will be getting the phone for only $50 which is awesome. But the S4 isn't much better than S3. Slight larger screen, little better camera, and a few minor things. Those things aren't enough for me to fork over who knows how much more for the S4. I really don't care about having the most newest and best thing. I just want something current and better than what I have now. I bought the Droid 3 when it came out but the droid 4 came out like 4 or 5 months later. There will always be something newer coming out.

Good points on pricing and "upgrade" over the S3. The S3 is an awesome phone and will remain relevant for a while. To the other poster who said his Charge has been acting up since the expiration, I know the feeling all too well. It's almost like they have self-destruct coding in them...

I just upgraded my Samsung Fascinate (Verizon version) to the S3 and I love the new phone! I held out on my upgrade for quite a while because I had the grandfathered unlimited data, but even with a custom CM10.1 ROM, I still felt it was time for the upgrade. Best Buy had the Verizon version of the S3 for $99 last weekend but I bought mine at Costco for $49. The new phone is fast and, I must admit, pretty to look at.
