upgrading CM/going to a back up rom

When you upgrade to the new CM recovery, will that affect the ROM's you've previously backed up that were say on CM 2.5.0.5? if i boot back to a back up, after upgrading the CM to 3.0.08, will the CM be downgraded?

im considering upgrading because of the new z roms, but im not sure how it will affect the back ups

I'm currently on CWM 3.0.0.5 and have successfully restored backups made with 2.5.0.5.
