Upgrading from NOTE 3....which to choose?

I went from Note 3 to 5. Love the 5.

That's a tough call. I think the 5 is an upgrade over my 4 in several areas like the camera, memo on pulling out the S Pen (I use that a lot) and speed overall (less TW interference) but the 4 was a great phone too!
I don't think you will be unhappy with either and if money is an issue, get the 4 but the 5 is a terrific phone!

I went from the 4 to the 5. It depends on your individual needs. The battery is a non issue for most. The 5 battery lasts all day with normal use. There is also quick charging - wired and wireless - so juicing up during the day shouldn't be an issue.

SD card isn't an issue because of cloud storage and drives.

If price isn't an issue, I definitely vote for the 5. The camera is 2nd to none (imo), its fast, beautiful, powerful...and it'll get Marshmallow before the 4. I'm not rushing for the update, but alot of people are.

Depends on your needs. If you swap batteries frequently on the note 3 or need more than 64gb then you would need a note 4. Otherwise the note 5 is a better device.

I don't miss the battery, or sd card at all, I bought a fast charger for the car and a 9500mah backup battery and I never worry about my phone going dead...

What makes the Note 4 battery better? Higher mah rating? Software optimizations on the Note 5 get more out of a 'lesser' battery

My Note 5 has always had just as good and usually better battery life than my Note 4.

I would go with the 5 if you don't mind not being able to swap batteries or insert micro.
