I am on ATT for years already, on an iphone 3GS. i have 'unlimited data for iPhone'.

i am ready to upgrade when ATT has a device i want, maybe after the new year some time. i will be likely going 4G, android, larger screen.

obviously i want to keep the unlimited data. ATT's site does say this: ?If you already have a smartphone and data plan with AT&T (including an unlimited data plan) you are not required to switch to one of the new plans. However, if you want to save money, you may choose to switch without a contract extension.

clear, yes. but i still would like a report from other ATT customers who have upgraded from the unlim iphone plan to a new 4G NON-IPHONE in ATT and kept the unlimited data. i really want it verified that this will not be a problem. this is the single and only reason i have to stay with ATT for another 2 years.

TIA. :)

Switched from a 3G phone to an HSPA+ 4G phone to an LTE phone and I've been able to keep my unlimited along the way.

I just switched from an iphone 4 to a GS2 and got to keep my unlimited plan. There wasn't even a question from the sales rep.

I am not on ATT but a friend is and when he got his 3gs he couldn't get unlimited data and now with this 4s he doesn't have it.
When did ATT start doing this in 2010 correct?

I switched from several phones and always kept unlimited. Its never been an issue.

I also switched to the SKyrocket and kept my unlimited...so I thought.

Just got a message from AT&T that I'm reaching top 5% and I'll be throttled soon. ..................I was at 1.35GB when I got that message. 1.35GB!!!!!!!!!!!!! That means I'll be throttled before I even reach 2GB.... Why would I not just get the 2GB plan and pay $5 less..... when the unlimited is $30 and throttles me at 1.5GB.

AT&T has lost their mind.

Yah that's the so called AT&T Unlimited plan.

i called ATT this morning to ask them about this throttling bit, and their response was to give me $10/mo off my bill ongoing. true story.

the CSR also did indeed recommend dropping $30 'unlimited' data and buying tiered for $25 + $10/GB beyond 2GB/mo. no throttling there.

also this, that i mentioned in another thread:

- when you're throttled, you are throttled for the rest of the month. which will make you ask your lord and savior what the definition of unlimited is. and,
- when you're throttled for the rest of the month, you are booted off LTE, HSPA+, *and* 3G. that's right buddy, you and your LTE phone are on EDGE until next billing cycle. just think about that. it's what i call a dealbreaker.
