So I have my old 8gb card in my m8. How do I transfer it all to phone storage, then back onto my new SanDisk 32gb card once installed in phone?

Probably would be best to do it with a computer. Transfer everything from old sd card to comp, then insert new sd card and transfer to phone

That's what I thought. Just thought I might be able to do it without hooking to my laptop.

You could transfer the contents to the internal memory. However, without root, you will not be able to transfer the contents back to the SD due to the limitations with KitKat.

Go into settings on your phone.
Click on storage.
You will then see two sections. Phone Storage and Sd Card.
Go to Sd Card and click on "Make more space".
Select what you want to move and then click "move to phone storage"
Files will be moved to your phone.
Put in your new memory card.
Go into settings on your phone.
Click on storage.
Go to Phone Storage and click on "Make more space".
Select what you want to move and then click "Move to SD "
Files will be moved to your new card.
Done :)
