My LG Power w/android 5.0.1 is on the fritz and the battery is swelling. I'm currently on a Straight Talk no contract that uses AT&T towers. I need to get a better smartphone. Those unlocked international phones sound nice but are usually inadequate in some way or another. I was thinking of getting a smartphone with at least 4GB of RAM in it to compensate for all the auto-starting pre-loaded apps, and it should support USB-OTG so I can attach a microscope to it for viewing coins and other things. I'm not sure whether to go with an android 6, 7, or 8 version. It would be nice to get one that is unlocked so I could get rid of bloatware apps and install better versions. I'm not particularly fond of non-removable batteries because those Li-Ions are dangerous of catching fire or exploding. But trying to find a decent smartphone on the internet is daunting and misleading. I've also noticed that mobile phones are excessively pricey compared to the old dial-ups. The cost of materials in them is probably a small fraction of that cost, and they are mass produced mostly by machines not cheap human labor. It would be nice to get some reliable information to go on to make a decent decision on what to buy or make payments on it. I have $200 to play with.
