I just got my Optimus V a few days ago. I think I might get a 16GB card for it, but I've noticed that there is already data on there from some apps and stuff. Will all this be re-written when I pop a new card in or is there a proper way to copy it over to the new card so everything is intact?

It depends on what computer you are going to do it on. When copying over make sure hidden files are shown.

My main computer is a Mac, but I have a PC in the house as well. I guess my best bet is to use the PC, mount the phone and new card. Enable show hidden files and folders in the options, and copy it over?

i've sort of had the same question. But i inserted the new card after a clean wipe and just copied all the folders back over.. excluding the hidden ones and restored from Titanium. I want to format the card again, as theres a lot of junk on it, so I'm going to wipe, install new rom, then format card and restart.

I would put the new card in the phone and format it on the phone then take it out and copy the old card to the new card making sure hidden files are copied over too.

Thanks. That seems to be the best approach. Much appreciated.

For the benefit of anyone doing a search. Here's what I did...

1.) Shut off my phone.

2.) Took out the 2GB card and stuck it in an SD adapter, and stuck that in my MacBook Pro.

3.) Put the new 8GB card in my phone, then turned the phone on.

4.) Plugged the phone into my MacBook Pro via USB, and enabled USB on the phone's screen.

5.) Selected and deleted everything on the phone's new 8GB SD card.

6.) Copied everything from the 2GB card to the phone's new 8GB card.

7.) That's it. Everything seems to be working great.

I wasn't sure if it would work on a Mac (only because every Android tutorial I've seen for anything people are using PCs), but it worked great.

Not that I am surprised that the above worked, it's exactly what I expected. But I wanted to share it none-the-less for anyone who a.) might think it's more complicated than it is, or b.) might have a Mac and is unsure if they can do this stuff on a Mac.

Does the apls that you moved tl sd card move over bexause it doesn't seam to work for.me

Before I made the move I copied everything possible back to the phone. But yes I did notice today one app was missing. I just redownloaded it from the market though. Not sure how to get around that.
