I took a 9min video of a meeting I recently attended and am trying to upload it to youTube but am having some issues that I hope you are able to help me with.

The file size is 355mb. When I click on the menu option within the video camera to upload to youtube I receive a message saying I can only upload videos under 1gig.

I even move the file to my computer and then tried to upload it directly to youtube but it does not like the .3gp video format.

To make things even stranger, when I look at the video properties in the phone it says type: video/3gpp video/mp4v-es

Any suggestions? I hate to convert it and lose all of the quality by processing it so much.

Thanks for the help!

I see nobody replied. I just tried to upload a 3 minute video to Youtube today and got the same messages. The properties said the file was 154MB, so clearly under 1Gig.

Has anyone successfully uploaded a video to Youtube using the "share" option?

I dug around on the net a few weeks ago but can't find the link again. Keep getting "YouTube doubles files size!" from like six months ago which doesn't help.

Anyway, it has something to do with their mobile upload server putting restrictions on the files themselves that's outside of the normal 1 GB limit. If the bitrate was too high combined with a certain file size and format, the mobile server can't process it so it rejects it. The only option is to upload from a desktop or laptop, but of course that sort of defeats the purpose.

So it doesn't have anything to do specifically with the Evo, I've read threads with people having the same issue with the Moto Droid and other phones. Seems somewhat silly that Google's own phones wouldn't work with their own service.

I'll see if I can find the info.

i am having issues uploading small video between 30-50 MB to You Tube. it keeps timing out and telling me it will retry in a few minutes. i know it s not my home network because i have tried several wifi networks one of them being my job which has a 3MB upload speed to the net and the signal strength is reading full strength.
never had this problem with my Palm Pre (ouch) :-)
any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Youtube doesn't seem to support 3gp only 3gpp (3g2).

So, first you have to convert the 3gp to a format that youtube supports:

First, move your file to your PC.

Second, use this truly free app for to convert the file (Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux): Miksoft's Mobile Media Converter

Here is a step-by-step:
1. Drag your file to "Input File(s)" field
2. Set your the "Output File/Foulder" by clicking on " ... " button to the right of the "Output File/Foulder" field.
3. Set "Conversion to" to "Windows Media Video" (Be careful, there is also a "Windows Media Audio")
4. Set "Quality" to "High"
5. Click "Convert"

Also, once you have converted it, if you need to rotate your movies those on Windows can use Microsoft's Movie Maker:

Step-by-step
(This is for the Vista version of Windows Movie Maker, other version might be different)
1. On the right side there are is a list of "tasks", under "Import" click "Video." Navigate to your video file and hit Import.
2. Drag file from work pane to the timeline at the bottom of the window.
3. Under "Edit" click "Effects"
4. Scroll down until you get to the rotate effects. If you were hold the phone so the camera is near the top while you where recording you need to use the "Rotate 270" effect.
5. Drag the "Rotate270" effect to your video on the timeline.
6. Use the preview window to make sure it has rotated in the correct direction.
7. Click "Publish Movie" near the top right of the screen.
8. Set for "This Computer" and click "Next"
9. Set file name and save directory
10. Set it to either "Best quality for playback on my computer" or if you need to "Compress to: ____ MB"
11. Click Publish.

That should be it!

I upload my videos to Youtube straight from my EVO.

Sent from my HTC EVO using Tapatalk

Those of you uploading straight you YouTube, what are you settings? I have not been able to upload any videos at all, I always get the 1gig error in spite of the videos being considerably smaller.

Did we ever get resolution on this?

I'm not sure why anyone is having trouble. Use Qik I have mine set to upload videos to YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook simultaneously.

You have to actually log into QIK.com and on their website and your twitter, facebook and youtube account first.

*This was posted from my Evo 4G using Tapatalkpro! Great app, if you want to browse and post through many dfferent forums*

:mad:Hate to kick a dead horse but the one thing everyone wants to do. That is to uplaod from there phone. Has still not been fixed. For the life of me. I can't uplaod from my phone. How can I fix this? So it can do what it is intended to do. I like my Evo 3D but why show that you can do something it can't.

Thanks......

WFM. Although I've never shot any videos that long with my Evo... most of my videos are under a minute.

I did have some issues several months ago where the upload to Youtube would keep failing, and I'd eventually give up and upload them from my computer, but my recent videos have all worked.
