Well first what's your carrier and second I would go with S3 considering you're on a budget and if your carrier is one of the top three (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint)

If you could let us know how much you have to spend we would have a better chance of recommending a specific device.

The best inexpensive device at this time is the Moto G. It starts at $179.99 USD and is packed with features.

How much are you looking to spend?

The best Andriod phone to get right now at a budget price is the Moto G.

Don't get cheap Samsung phones (unless its one of the flagship ones), they aren't good and will not receive future updates and will be outdated quickly. If you mean clone as in Chinese knockoff, I highly don't recommend them, you won't get warrenty if any, the build quality is shoddy and no supports and absolutely no updates.

1) ALWAYS select the carrier first. The best phone ever made, on a carrier that has no service where you need it, is a useless lump.

2) Don't buy clone phones. They are called "Clone of ..." but that's about as close as many of them get to be clones of anything. They use substandard parts, the design (internal - hardware and software) is different, so if you need help with one of them, you're pretty much out of luck. They also are usually missing a lot of the features of the phone they're supposedly clones of. (There was a rash of "clones" of 4G/LTE phones that did only 2G data. Not even 3G.)

If you're looking for something to make and receive phone calls, take pictures and run a few small apps not so fast, any good phone made by a well-known manufacturer (for the carrier you choose) will do. If you want a super fast phone that can photograph the whisker on a virus at 10 feet and play a good game of chess, no. You're going to buy a phone - that has a few nice additional features, not a supercomputer that also makes phone calls. Be realistic. A Chevy won't win the Indy 500, but it will get you to work comfortably, every day, with decent gas mileage. It's not a Porsche, but it does the job it was designed to do very well. (Unless you prefer Ford. :) )

So find out which carriers cover those areas of your town that you need coverage in. THEN see which phones they have in your price range. THEN ask us which of your choices we think is best.

Welcome to Android Central! Some good advice so far in this thread. I agree that the Moto G would be an excellent choice, and that clones should be avoided at all cost.

Lenovo generally has a good reputation, but since they don't sell phones in the US, I'm afraid I can't tell you much about them.
