US version of Z5c will NOT have fingerprint sensor!

I have found the fingerprint scanner to work well but not quite as reliably as Apple's Touch ID on my iPad Air 2. If it's good enough to be sold in countries across the world, it's good enough to be sold in the US.

It is a very strange and perplexing move by Sony. I guess they already know that sales prospects are low what with the Galaxy S7 and LG G5 coming soon so this is a way of cost-cutting.

I asked my daughter if she was having any problems with her Z5c fingerprint reader. Works for her 100%. She never has an issue. She loves her phone. So much better than her old iphone.

I have not seen many people complain about the reader as well. No any more so than other phones with a reader at least.. Mine is accurate and fast. Of course some will refuse to acknowledge that they have set it up incorrectly or that maybe they have a faulty device (same with other phones as well) and they just go on and on..

Now back on topic...

The decision is odd. I doubt Sony will say why it was done but I'd love to hear the reason. Does anyone know if the reader needs additional approval or licensing in the USA?

This is typically what I hear and have experienced. The 6s was great, 5x the same. Z3c, I'd have to try numerous times then put in my code many times.
