USB always 'connected'

Last night my phone randomly started cycling the icons along with the descriptions (USB Connected / USB Debugging Connected). I turned off debugging and the icon went away but it still says USB Connected. I turned the phone off completely and when it came back on it was still there. I plugged the charger in and it started charging but the icon remained. Everything seems to be working just fine so I'm not too worried about it but it is pretty damn annoying. Any thoughts?
