USB and Android Auto drop out on my 2017 Elantra

I've tried several cables and several flash drives. It usually will connect initially, but after a few minutes Android Auto disconnects. The USB music will drop out and come back and then disconnect again. I am using the Pixel 2XL. I did not have this problem with my old phone, which was a Motorola Droid Turbo. It is extremely frustrating to not be able to use a feature of the car which I require. I hear murmers on the internet about a fix coming out. I don't know whether it's a problem with the phone or the car software. The dealer replaced the USB port in the car with no change.
