I've now had my second USB C cable end bend on my 5X. The first one, I thought it was a fluke. Now that I am on the second one, I am wondering if it is a design problem? These are the cords I used in my car... so, they are getting pushed, pulled and bumped around in the car quite a bit.
I've never had the old MicroUSB end bend on my old phones. I am wondering if that larger sized C end is the problem.

None of my cables are showing any signs of wear. I am, however, careful to make sure that there is a good 2" of straight cable before any bends.

I've had 2 Samsung USB 3.0 cables ends start to wear. Take a ballpoint pen spring (or anything just a tiny bit smaller than the cable) and thread it around the cable at the end. That'll provide strain relief. USB cables aren't the only ones with this kind of problem - all cables that use molded connector shells and no spring suffer from it. We used to get that with DIN cables, PS2 cables, serial cables - molded connectors are just a bad idea, but they're a lot cheaper, so that's what the industry uses.

Slightly off topic but thanks for explaining how to get the spring on. I've been having a blonde moment for a while now thinking about that but hadn't wondered enough to actually look for the answer. :D
