USB-C Desktop Dock

Anyone have any recommendations for USB-C Desktop Dock? I see several on Amazon, but would like to know if anyone has had experience with any of them.

Very good question, I had been wondering if the docks for the Microsoft devices would work. I believe you can use generic usb-c to hdmi adapters.

Hdmi isn't necessary but would be nice. My main use would be charging and syncing with my PC.

For those that are getting the Samsung Dex dock, I'm pretty sure you can use it as a standalone charging dock also, but it won't fast charge, that's what I'm led to believe anyway but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I would definitely use this overnight if this is the case.

Well the Dex Dock isn't a dock made to be connected to a PC. The PC USB port aint even enough to power it up.

You don't even need a dock with Samsung anymore, just use Sidesync.

You can connect it yes, but AFAIK you still need the separate self power cord. It's a standalone device that just needs a monitor keyboard and PC with your phone serving as CPU.


It honestly seems too much hassle to use Dex when I can have my phone in the next room and still remotely access and control its contents, answer notifications, make calls all through side sync. Heck I can play a game on my phone with Sidesync. Depends on game of course.

I just received my Dex Station (love seeing that Fed X truck pulling up) in anticipation of my new Note 8.

It comes with a fast charging wall plug and cord

The Samsung web site indicates the Dex Station will fast charge your phone when docked!!

Can you use the dex to sync data also or only to charge the device?

From what I have seen, with Dex one cannot sync with a PC. I currently have a Note 4 and when I insert it in the Dock (pictured in the OP), I can use Windows Explorer to browse the phone and SD Card and copy files to and from from my PC. That is a requirement for me. I looked at Sidesync and it doesn't work very well for me.
