Where would I be able to find settings that would help the phone identify the type of device that is connected to it by the usb c port?

What was your solution? That would be helpful in case other people have the same problem.

At some point something triggered the "Disable USB audio routing" setting. Once I turned it off I was able to get audio out through the USB again.
