Hi all,

Hoping I've got the right spot/forum.

I'm looking for a reliable USB-C speaker (that can connect while the phone is still in it's case - One I got off Amazon couldn't).
Basically, I want to be able to play navigation apps through my phone, but need more volume than the phone provides. Playing them through the phone will allow me to listen to whatever media (CD, Radio, XM, etc) I choose.
Now I could set up some playlists on various streaming sites, use the Bluetooth receiver, and the navigation would be played via the car speakers - but I'd rather be able to listen to what I want, and have get the directions from the phone - since a navigation app (Google Maps/Waze) on Bluetooth won't "break in" to other receiver channels (unlike text messages and phone calls).

So, with all that said - are there any decent smallish USB-C speakers out there?

Thanks!

Hi
I've used this around the house with good volume and base , I think it will be ok in a car. https://a.co/d/inGxYq2

You want me to move this to the s24 Forum you probably get more traffic there?
I deleted your other one and put this on in the s24 forum.

Hi -

Thanks for the tip - much appreciated!
I had also posted in the S24 forum (after starting here) thinking the same thing - that it'd get more traffic there - thanks also for moving it.

Are you saying that you do not want the playback of (whatever audio you're listening to) to pause when the navigation instructions play?

Have you ever used this type of set up before?

I think you're going to change your mind about having two audios playing at the same time after a few times of having both playing and you miss a navigation instruction because you were listening too intently to the show or you miss some critical dialog in your POD cast that was just drown out for a left turn you need to make up ahead. Maybe your more Zen than I am and you're OK with missing that POD cast dialog or won't mind circling back after missing a turn. Plus I'm lazy, to have to turn on the speaker every time, when my car does it automatically just by turning the car on.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that many media apps have a setting to pause playback for notifications, if you turn this off both audios will usually play so you can have you uninterrupted all from one speaker. Also there is a setting Google Maps for navigation volume. You can make the voice louder or softer, I imagine yours is set at default which is Normal, then there is Louder and Softer as settings too. Open Maps>touch your profile pic>Settings>Navigation>Sound & voice.

Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.

The pause isn't the important thing to me. Being able to hear the Navigation is important. But not being a streamer, I need to use whatever receiver channel (CD, XM, etc) defaults to. I could use the GPS on my car, but it isn't real time, and doesn't provide alerts (traffic, vehicle on shoulder, etc). I'm totally fine with it breaking in/over whatever I'm listening to at the moment.

I've already got the volume maxed for Waze, but with a window down and the radio up (though not overly loud) - the phone by itself just can't compete. We'll see how a wired speaker works... and if that fails, maybe a bluetooth speaker (assuming I can connect to multiple devices - but that is another post for another time)
