USB card reader via OTG cable

I have a couple of sd cards lying around so I bought a USB card reader thinking I could just plug it into the OTG /USB cable and be good to go.

USB Helper doesn't see the drive. Stickmount sees it but can't read it (avi files). It claims unsupported file format, but I tried NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT, all without luck

All parts of the chain are good, I've checked. Is there no way to get this to work?

I discovered that part of the problem is the ROM I'm on doesn't support OTG. But switching to one that does still only works with USB sticks, not readers. Maybe it's an Android limitation.

Thanks. I've since read that Linux supports card readers but Android doesn't, which might explain why Stickmount can mount the drive but the system can't read the files. I don't know if that's true or someone's speculation.

It works for me with nexus media importer. I loaded in loads of pictures from my cameras as a backup while I was on holiday.

Unfortunately not for me. I tried with the free photo viewer before popping for the media viewer. Nexus sees "a blank disc or one with an supported file format. The card is FAT32 with a couple of AVIs on it.

[Solved]USB card reader via OTG cable

well, you are lucky ,
i found a new way to mount card reader via otg cable.

oky for this you need 1.stickmount.app
2. usb otg helper .app
now connect your card reader and , mount it using Stickmount.
then, mount it using usb otg helper , when you come to this step..your crd reader had to mounte using both apps.

now go to the usbotgdrivers folder in sdcard and you can see the files there..
;)
Do not foget to hit thanks!!
