USB chargning question

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the settings so I can charge via USB? Right now every time I plug it in to the computer it tries to sync and will not charge. Thanks for any advice!

Figured it out. Device must be powered off for charging work via USB.

This isnt right. Usb power from a computer usb port is not enough to charge to at its normal rate. While it will charge think of it more like a trickle charger, it is very slow.

Your stock 8 charger is 5 volt 2 amp usb power.
Laptops put out maybe .5 amps at most.

Well I thought so as well, however, I have noticed that even though the battery symbol shows the X while plugged into my desktop via USB, it does appear that it charges, however at a very slow rate.

It doesn't charge as fast, but I just needed to charge from my PC at work today.
