Usb connection issues

Is anybody having issues with connecting to computer via USB? I've had my note 8 for around 2 months and use it for movies etc. However, I'm having major problems with trying to transfer files to and from it via usb to PC.
It will sometimes show up then disappear from the attached devices list, on other occasions, it will connect, then half way through a transfer it will fail and will only show any file I try to view as empty. the only way I am able to move files on and off now is through a USB adapter and a thumb drive. My Note is standard 4.1.2 and my PC is windows 8 64bit on almost new HP Touch Smart ENVY23. I have updated all drivers etc and still there is a problem. Any ideas any one?? PLEASE?!

Welcome to the forums!
You can try downloading Kies. That is a program like iTunes for Samsung devices. What that will do is part of the install/update process is to install drivers. That may help a lot.

Hi and thanks. Already got Kies, same problem. This is an added concern as I worry it will prevent firmware updates. I have a galaxy s 3 which connects fine...

Where did you get the USB drivers from? I'm running Win8, 64 bit, with Note 5110, wifi. No issues. I loaded the drivers via the Note 8 Toolkit.
