USB disconnects when screen is off

I used pdanet for tethering. It works fine as long as there screen is on but when the screen goes dim or off the USB disconnects and reconnects in a mad frenzy over and over. Any ideas? I've tried all the tips I've found to power profiles and disallowing USB to use power control.

Hmm. I think I may have found my solution. I updated to Oreo and reset my phone. Huawei has some pretty harsh power saving stuff going on. I disabled the option for phone app idle management for pdanet and set battery options to manual and let run in background. Been working for a bit now. Fingers crossed!
