USB Host Cable

I just bought my 3G xoom yesterday and the Motorola Camera connection Kit. (micro to standard cable) It is $20. I am using a microsoft wireless mouse. (comes with a mini usb bluetooth plug.
the mouse works great. My only issue is that I cannot get the on screen keyboard to worrk but my bluetooth keyboard works fine with the mouse.

Why did you buy the host cable if you have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard? The Xoom already has bluetooth.

I have the Motorola camera adapter kit and I am able to transfer pics to my Xoom. But I can't get the Xoom to recognize a usb thumb drive. Anybody have any luck with a thumb drive without rooting?

Did you doubt us? The USB hosting is pretty limited on stock OS. If you need to read external drives through micro USB then root.

The amazon item has been reviewed by multiple Xoom owners that says it does not work as an OTG cable.

But I am wondering about this

Amazon.com: Motorola Camera Connection Kit for MOTOROLA XOOM (Motorola Retail Packaging) 89454N: Electronics

It says for cameras but the reviewer says it works for a USB mouse and PS3 controller. Anyone know if this will allow the Xoom to be able to read a flash drive?

Is it just this certain one that doesnt work? Im just looking for a cheap adapter that allows a camera or phone to connect to the xoom to transfer pictures and stuff.

I use this USB host cable and it works great. Have tested it with my 750gb Oyen and 320gb WD Passport esternal HDD's, several usb flash drives (8-16gb), San disk USB memory card reader, and a USB keyboard.

For those having issues getting their Xoom to recognize USB storage devices here's what I've got and did to get it to work: I flashed my XOOM (3.1) to the 2.6.36.4 Tiamat_Xoom-v1.4.4-Full_Throttle Kernel and was unable to get the USBMount to recognize drives or storage at first. I installed USB Mass Storage Watcher from the market (it's free) and it works awesome! Can mount any storage I want (NTFS, FAT16/32, HFS, HFS+, EXT2, ETX3, EXT4) with any capacity. I think this app will work with any rooted Xoom (or other devices). Under my Kernel my USB host is located under/usbOTG.

Hope this helps.
