USB storage not working!

For some reason when I plug my phone into the outlet (in the wall) the usb storage option pops up but when I connect it to the computer and when i want it to come up,,,it doesn't....Is there a way to connect the phone to the computer another way or how do I fix this? whenever I put in the usb to connect it to my phone a notification on the computer comes up that it can't read it and the USB has malfunctioned...I doubt that the usb cable is the problem though...it has been only two months since i got this phone..DD:

You may have a problem with the USB port on your phone. A few things you can try in order to troubleshoot your problem:

1) Make sure under menu=>settings=>usb settings, your phone is set to mass storage
2) Also make sure under menu=>settings=>applications=>development, that usb debugging is enabled
3) If both of those are on those settings, plug your phone into your computer with the usb cord then restart your phone. This has solved the phone to pc connection for many people on Samsung phones.
4) If that doesn't work, try changing the usb setting from mass storage to ask on connection

I am also having problems with my Charge USB to PC connection. The wall charger does not bring up the USB prompt - that much is fine. The problem it seems is getting my PC to recognize the phone. Thus far I have tried all of the suggestions in the above post; I have downloaded and installed Samsung Moble USB drivers; I tried manually setting the driver and Windows does not recognize any files as drivers. When I plug in the USB to connect to PC, the Mass Storage prompt does come up on the phone and I can turn on mass storage, but apparently I cannot go beyond that. Eventually Windows will pop up and say USB device not recognized.

Any suggestions?

Not sure what the problem could be. Everything seems to be working correctly for you except the computer is not recognizing the phone. The only question I would have is did you download the drivers directly from the Samsung site and did you get the ones specific for the Charge? Other than that this is a real head scratcher.

I had that exact problem last week. I wound up reinstalling Windows to fix it and even then I could only get it to connect in download mode. I was on the 2.3.6 rooted leak but I ran the SD card patcher at least 10 times &it didn't help at all. I finally went back to stock and it finally seems to be working correctly. My mp3 player worked absolutely fine connected to the same USB ports so that wasn''t/isn't the problem.

It seems to have fixed itself. I did get the drivers from Samsung; got the charger cable instead of the regular USB cable..swapped back and forth, rebooted computer, rebooted the phone. Then after a second reboot I got an install notice that the machine was installing Stealth from Verizon. Wallah, it worked. I guess I finally had all my ducks in a row

i had my ph attached to cpu under mass storage and tried to move some movies to the ph.. under sd/media/videos a directory i made .. and each time the cpu and ph kicked back i dai not have the room , well i have a 32gb sd card and only about 6gb on it opf music etc.. so later i will try to track down the culpert..

This answer may help others. I had the same problem, did a Google and this site came up first, however no one had the answer yet. On my computer, the USB storage on my android phone had a connection but I couldn't see any drive letter indication. On Windows 7, click the Start (lower left corner button in Desktop) then search for "Computer Management." When the Computer Management window opens up, (on the left) click "Disk Management." Look for your USB storage volume under Disk 0, 1, etc. Assign it a letter. Follow the instructions for assigning it a letter and it should recognize the USB storage.
