I recently picked up an Anker USB to USB-C cable thinking I could use it as a backup in case I didn't have the included charger with me. However when I connect this to a standard charging brick (my old Tab S one) I get it showing up as a USB data device and not charging. Is there something I need to enable in the developer options or are anything other than USB-C cables disabled for charging?

Don't know about this particular cable, but I've been taking along a micro-USB to USB-C adapter as my emergency backup. Works fine on any of my micro-USB chargers, and is very compact: fits in the neoprene travel carry case.

That actually looks a good option. Is there anything to watch out for with those in the same way that some cables are good and some are bad?
