USB Type C on Nexus 6P not connecting

When I try to plug my Nexus 6P up it has to be in just the right spot and if it moves at all it disconnects and will not charge. I did take a paperclip to dig out some lint that was in the port and my guess is that I damaged the inside but I don't know, any ideas on what to do so I don't have to spend 15 minutes finding the right spot every time I need to charge my phone?

Did you ever get this resolved?

My son's five month old 6P has the same issue and his phone is mint. The cable doesn't click in like it used to and falls right out.
