for that that prefer a more stock experience, has anyone had some success by using action launcher or nova launcher? and if so, how did you do it?

I find it interesting that LG make the pixel 2 xl and the LG v30.
The LG v30 has microsd, hifi-dac, dual cameras

LG pixel 2 XL has none of the above, but stock experience, front facing stereo speakers and no audio out jack

And yet....same guts

LG is making the hardware for Google, so they take a very different approach. I've got mine running as close as I want it to stock Pixel, but I use a lot of Nova features well beyond that.

Nova allows you to get the swipe to the right to get to Google Home, it offers Oreo's notification system, and you can use the Pixel IP icon pack to get the look and feel of the Pixel.

Settings still won't be the same of course. I use a LG dark theme so that settings and the notification slide down are both dark.

Beyond that, I use a lot of icon folders, a Nova and Action feature that lets you show a top app icon only for a folder that may have a bunch of other icons in it. A swipe up on the app icon shows the rest of the apps in the folder. Here's one of my home pages and the same one showing that the Netflix app is actually a folder with all my TV/Entertainment apps. I'm using the Active UX icon pack at the moment, which has the icons in Samsung S7/Note 8 style. I switch between that and Pixel IP.

You can create app folders with the stock (LG) launcher. I understand someone wanting to make their phone more pixel like , but when did "Stock android" become equated to "Google"?

Where is that swipe to the right setting in Nova to get Google page?

The minute Google started making phones. It's not hard to to believe ppl would make that association.

You need to be a beta tester for Nova and then download and install the Nova Google Companion apk from Nova's website.
Well I didn't have to do that I don't think. I just downloaded it and it worked fine.

If you wanna go as "stocky" as possible, you'll probably wanna try the "Google Now" Launcher.
Cant get more basic.
