Just a quick question because I cant find a recent definaitve answer. Once rooted, can I use the native Mobile Hotspot Application within the Droid Pro without being charged through VW or do I need to use Barnacle (or similar)?

Thanks, I am new to the Droid world and trying to soak up all this information!! There is so much out there!!

Well from my experience the Barnacle app works awesomely but it isn't really needed any more if you have an up to date os.Both the built in app and or the Barnacle app will cost if you go over the allotted data plan that you subscribe to. If for example you have only a 500meg data plan after the 500 is used it will cost you, but until that happened it would be free.

Hope that has assisted in you and not further clouded the already mirky waters.

yea it actually just updated... 2.26 I believe. As far as I know I have unlimited data...

updated** I just checked Verizon and it shows .135GB of Unlimited..... but I know they charge $20 for mobile hotspot. Do they know how tro tell what type of data is being used? It has been rooted with z4root 1.3. Thanks for the help!

OK thanks, I noticed people were using that one too. I guess I will find out how Verizon takes it after the first billing cycle... haha
