Use EDGE only

Hey everyone, Is there a way I can set my network to use only EDGE on my Inspire?

*#*#4636#*#* set the network type to GSM only under phone info. This will last until you reset the phone or manually change it back...

I know that on the fruit phone it uses less battery than 3G. Plus I was just wondering.
