Use Fancy Switcher on Chrome

Hey guys, is there any way to use the prettier tab switcher on Chrome on the 3rd gem Moto g? I am only getting the accessibility switcher without fancy effects. Or is it just a new thing in lollipop, where that is the only switcher available as well as all the tabs mixed on recent apps mode.

Merged tabs is only a feature in Lollipop. Your Moto G should have that update available. My 1st gen G has 5.1.1

I do have 5.1.1. I was wondering, though why when I switch tabs on chrome (when merged tabs is off) I'm getting the basic tab switcher with only text and a favicon (I would post a link but I don't have the privileges), instead of the fancier switcher within Chrome, where you could swipe down from the tab count icon to get a card interface that looks like the recent app switcher.

Yes, that is the switcher i am looking for. How much ram do you have on your moto? I only have the 1gb version which might explain things although my dad has a s3 mini which has the 1gb ram and he has the fancy switcher.

I have the 2gb version. I also turned off the "merge tabs and apps" setting in chrome.

Also try closing all of the apps and then see if you can get the "fancy" previews. If freeing up the ram does the trick, then there is only one logical conclusion to make.

To open that tab overview you can swipe down from the url box in Chrome.
Swiping down from the URL bar does not work when you don't have the fancy switcher. I've tried it on different phones before.

I guess it may very well be due to me having the 1 GB RAM model. Oh well, it's not a huge deal. Thanks for you help guys!

I know how to take a screenshot. The problem is that i don't seem to have the privileges for uploading them. I will give it a shot though.

EDIT: Oh hey, it worked! Must have been posting links that was giving me problems. Also, btw, the "Accessibility Switcher" setting is turned off in chrome://flags. I will install Chrome Beta in a second to see if that works.

EDIT 2: Nope, Chrome Beta has not changed anything. Perhaps that is something that gets fixed when the Marshmallow update comes around? It's not a huge deal since Chrome is not my primary browser.

OK, I'm using Chrome Beta and I turned off merge tabs. This is what I see. Is that what you're trying to get?

Yep, that is what i am looking for. Unfortunately, that and regular Chrome are not doing it. I'm guessing it's a build problem, i once switched between KitKat ROMs on a Samsung, one of them had the fancy tab switcher and the other didn't.

I get the fancy switcher on chrome, not beta, with my LG but don't get it on moto G 3 both devices run same lollipop and Chrome versions
