I will say that Google seemed to keep an artificially low supply of Pixels. That probably helped with the secondary market.

That may well be. I'm not impressed by companies that have supply issues because their product is so "popular." I'm not a Samsung fan, but they generally don't have that issue, unlike Apple and Google.

Right, the "popular" issue was only half the issue. They doubled their sales expectations in the first 6 weeks AND were having trouble getting extra components on time.
