If I use two phones on the same account do I have to constantly swap SIM cards or can I get two SIM cards and just turn one on

This question is at least 13 years old - at least I was asked the same thing by many customers back in 2013. No, the system runs on the SIM card number, so 2 different SIM cards won't register as the same phone number. (And you can't legally have two SIMs with the same number.)

He's right, it's illegal.

Curoius... Why?

I mean municipal laws are there to protect citizens. Why would there need to be a law of this type? How does it harm anyone operating multiple phones off the same number?

Why doesn't (or can't) a carrier allow multiple phones all operating off the same number? Wouldn't be an easy way to entice customers into higher data packages?... with multiple phones (not lines) drawing from the same data pool. many want multiple cell phones, but do not want multiple number / contract / lines.
