Using a different charger

make sure you use the same mAh, that the LG charger has.
My girlfriend used an iPad charger to charger her iPhone for awhile and the battery on her iPhone got bloated and had to be changed. I been told that the iPad charger has twice the mAh than the iPhone one.

just sharing my experience. If i was you ill just stick to the same mAh.
Output 4.8V @ 1A

This is true. The iPad charger is beastly. Mine reads 5.1V 2.1A. Don't think I'll be using that.

I don't use the charger that came with the phone since it died. It worked one time. I use my old Galaxy Nexus charger upstairs, downstairs I use either a HTC Thunderbolt charger , or some Motorola cables I got to my laptop. So far no issues, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm using a charger that came with a cheap Samsung phone that I bought at Walmart. I like it because the cord is long enough for me to keep plugged in and still use my phone. The cord that came with my Nexus 7 is longer than the one that came with my Nexus 4 so I'll just use the shorter one in my car.

A proper device will not draw more current than it can handle. I use 2A chargers on my Amaze and N4 regularly with no ill effects. Generally what you see printed on the charger is the MAX it's rated for. The phone should only draw what it needs.

Apple chargers are a different case, I wouldn't mix and match with those.
