Using a tablet as a Sat Nav

Hi, I have bought Sat Navs for a number of years and now that there a large selection of free sat nav apps out there I am now looking at moving over to one of them but I am not sure if they would work ok with a tablet.
Could anyone recommend a cheap tablet that would work ok as a sat nav as I use my sat nav virtually every day to help avoid traffic, I have got a Huawei mediapad T3 tablet I got for free and have never used it but as I need a constant GPS/traffic alert connection this probably would not work?

Thanks

The Mediapad should work ok, but the challenge might be to keep the screen awake while you're driving -- you'd probably have to install an app like Stay Alive!, or turn on the Stay Awake option in Developer Options (which requires the device to remain plugged in). You'd also have to pre-download the maps, since your car presumably doesn't have wi-fi (although you could turn on your phone's hotspot and tether the tablet to your phone while driving).

Running Maps on it should keep the screen alive. (It does on all my Android phones.)

Does it stay alive even if you're not actively using the Nav feature?
