Was watching a video where he said if you purchase a phone from Verizon it comes unlocked so you can throw a AT&T sim card or T-Mobile sim card in it and use it on those networks. Is this true?

Here is the video, he mentions it in the 0:32 - 0:45 area and again at 4:00 - 4:15 area.

Was just curious as I never heard this before, and thought when I pay this phone off I was tempted to get a Straight talk AT&T sim and maybe switch to Straight Talk, or if I don't want to take the chance, try Total Wireless which is on Verizon network, although their site mentions CDMA in the bring your own phone. I didn't find anything mentioning a sim card on the Total Wireless site. I may have missed it.

Yes, this is true. When Verizon bought the 700MHz spectrum. One of the stipulations of the deal, was that the phones relased after the sale had to be unlocked.

I'm just not sure, if you'll be able to get 4G LTE with the other carriers. (someone else can correct me if I'm wrong with this.)

I was just curious. Most likely will not try it when I pay off the S6 edge, but it is something to think about.

Thanks.

There are Verizon 4GLTE phones without gsm radios. There are also Verizon phones with gsm radios with domestic carriers locked out. They are the minority but people should be aware that not all Verizon 4GLTE phones are factory sim unlocked.

That aside there are features and bands that could be missing. For the bands check out the sticky in the s6 forum

It's true. For a short time I had a Verizon Droid Turbo wherein I used a Straight Talk/AT&T sim card. I got LTE in my area. Though I suspect I wouldn't get LTE in as many areas as with an AT&T phone because of the difference in bands.
