Hi all! I recently acquired the Nexus 7 as a gift from my boyfriend, I'm not as tech savvy as he is so he's been in charge of tethering and rooting my device. However, I recently moved to a new building that only offers Ethernet - no WiFi. After spending some time researching how to solve the problem of connecting my device to my current internet connection, we discovered Connectfiy. It worked for about the first hour, I was able to create a Hotspot with my ethernet connection, however after an hour my device disconnected itself from the Hotspot. In addition, on my computer shows that I have no internet access on the Connectify network. I'm not sure if these two issues are connected or not. But I would really appreciate some helpful tips.
How can I fix this issue? Is anybody else having this issue? Does anyone know any other ways of connecting my device to my Ethernet connection?

Also, in case this is of any relevance, I'm using a Samsung laptop with Windows 7.

Thanks a lot!

Sofia

I have used Connectify in the past between my laptop and HTC Inspire phone. I don't remember anything specifically though.

Is it a laptop or a computer with a wireless card?

I assume "building" is your place of residence. If so...tell your boyfriend you need a wireless router and help setting it up. Are you able to setup your own router? You just plug in your ethernet that you normally would plug into laptop/computer. Then a little bit of setup.
