I am wanting to purchase a few Apps from the Market, but am hesitant to use my credit card over the phone. Can anyone please let me know how safe it is? Is there some sort of secure feature (SSL) on mobile phones like they have for the internet?

The Market uses Google purchase-type thing, similar to Pay Pal, as far as I can tell. Once you give the info, it will be saved and used automatically whenever you purchase an app. It's very convenient and, so far, I haven't had any problems at all with it. And, I've downloaded a ton of apps.

BTW - If you don't like a purchased app and uninstall it within 24 hours of your purchase, it will not be billed to your credit card.

You are correct.

It saves your infor.

And its titled "Google Checkout"

You can use it all over the Internet, its pretty handy!

Since there are millions of users buying apps all the time, I would think that Google is pretty serious about the security of your info. If it bothers you, have your bank issue a visa with a $100 limit and only use it for android stuff. At least if you card info gets ripped, you'll know what your losses are.

I would not worry about it. Since you are using Google Checkout, it is not like you are just giving your card to some random person. Also most all credit/debit cards and banks have protection for you the consumer against fraudulent charges.

I have been using Google Checkout for two years or so and have not had any problems. Even the refunds are seamless.

I have been a target of identity theft, and even though I was not responsible for thousands of dollars in fraudulent charges, it still was alot of work to clear up my credit. Just recently it happened again to a lesser extent. That is why I am a little "gun shy". Thanks to all for your feedback.
