Look at the Output line on the stock charger. (You may need a magnifying glass.) Note the current, denoted in A or mA. (1,000 mA = 1 A) As long as the charger you're using has at least that much output current it won't make any difference. (It could have 1,000A and it will still work with a phone that comes with a 1A charger.) If it has less current available, it will just take longer for a given amount of charging. The only thing that will be "harmed" is your time. (I have a 10 Amp supply, a 25 Amp supply and a 30 Amp supply on my desk, and I plug any phone into any of them to charge, even though the largest chargers I've ever seen are about 3 Amps.)

Remember, a 100 Watt light bulb draws about 1 Amp (at 100 volts - 0.5 Amps at 200 Volts). Your house supplies about 200 Amps (maybe 100 Amps in countries that use 200 Volt systems). The bulb doesn't draw 200 Amps. Devices draw what they're designed to draw, as long as that much current is available.
