Using firmware from other countries

Hi, apologies this early on for having a thread this long. I am really needing help on these as other websites weren't as helpful or as detailed on this fact.

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if you can flash firmware from other countries.

I know this has been discussed for so many times. But reading and researching, I always see contradicting answers. Some say yes. Some say it's not safe. Some are unsure. So I would hopefully like someone who can enlighten me and others who may find this useful who are new to using other countries firmware.

Here is my case. I have an S9 Plus which I bought in the Philippines and is UNLOCKED. It was initially locked to a carrier but I bought an unlock code online and used this code to unlock my phone. After which, I tested this with another sim card from another local carrier and it worked. I can call and all that. So I assume that my phone was unlocked (correct me if Im wrong).

Fast forward today, I wanted to use another country's firmware to flash my phone. Officially of course from Sammobile as I do not want my phone rooted. Only use another country's firmware. Humor me on this, reasons are personal.

I asked this many times. Mostly I see people saying that this is OKAY. ANY COUNTRY can be used just as long as 1. It has the same model number (ex. S6 Edge SM-G925F), 2. Phone is unlocked, 3. Using official firmware and program.

But I also see some responses like "You can only use Malaysia's firmware as XTC and XME are part of the same CSC OLB". Whatever that means.

And some rarely say that you can only use the same country, in my case the Philippines.

So may I ask to those who are expert on these the following queries:

1. Which is true? Like a detailed explanation on theses. How it is okay or it is not.

2. If it is okay, then what are the differences on each country if everything can be used just as long that it has the same model number?

3. Are there any possible issues, like when using a European firmware to a Philippine based phone, are there possible issues like loss of radio signals like wifi or phone signals etc as this firmware is distant to the region and is made for that country? Or all firmwares (for the same phone model) have the same radio code for all countries? Any other issues similar to this or nothing at all assuming that the flashing is done correctly?

4. If for example I used a Malaysian firmware and flashed successfully, for the future updates, what will my phone receive starting then, Malaysian OTA updates as that is now the firmware used or still Philippine OTA updates as I live in the Philippines?

5. If there is only a specific firmware from a different country that can be used, how will I go about in knowing what to choose, having no idea what terms like XME, CSC, XTC or the likes? Any help on how to go about on these?

Thank you so much. I know the thread is so long, but really, I would appreciate any detailed help that I can use. Thank you once again.
