I read an article on here some time ago about someone developing a hack that would allow you to use the HTC logo as a button. Does anyone know if this was ever made available? Or have any information at all about it?

Thanks.

You will have to be rooted and flash a custom kernel. Check out xda developers for downloads and tutorials

If this is possible why doesn't hTc enable it?

I saw an app called Swipe Home Button or something like that on YouTube video a couple of days ago.

It allowed swiping up the home button on the One for a customizable task.

I don't know if it really enables the home button or if it's just a swipe up on the screen but you can try it. I recalled it was not free, $0.99 o $1.99.

I'd say because if it's only the top half that can be enabled, that would just be asking for a boatload of trouble from people pressing the wrong area or not grasping the concept that only part of it works. Can you imagine how many complaints they would get from people saying they were pressing the button, but it didn't work? Plus it's the HTC logo...it's not like it looks like a home button or anything. This would just be too confusing for the average user and result in more tech support phone calls, thereby increasing the cost to both HTC and all the phone carriers. Much better to just let that sleeping dog lie.
