Using my MAXX in Caribbean and Mexico

I am traveling to Grand Caymen, Jamaica, and Cozumel (cruise). Besides Verizon's expensive global roaming plan, is there a better option?

I did see your informative post, which prompted my post. Europe is not the same as the Caribbean + Mexico. If I could walk into a "british wireless provider" for my trip, I would. I was hoping there were some Floridians on here that may have some advice.
