Using Nova Launcher Question

I am really wanting to theme this thing but it appears that AT&T has decided that we do not need that feature that was built into the LG's UI. So I am looking at Nova Launcher. I have heard that in some cases features are lost in the launcher like using "Ok Google" and maybe a vendor (LG) feature or two.

Does anyone know of any feature on the V10 (Android, LG or whatever) that would be lost by using Nova?

Any help wold be appreciated.

I've been using nova launcher for a few years on my note 4. No issues with Google.

As others have said, no loss of Google. However, you do lose the LG Bulletin feature. I don't use it (Nova Prime user) but it's a decent add-on by LG, so if you lean on it, you lose it in Nova.

But I have not issue with Nova whatsoever.

You also lose the ability to drag and drop icons to and from the secondary screen and main screen. You can still set those apps within the second screen config under SETTINGS, but drag and drop is gone as it's tied to the LG UI.

I have Nova Prime... and have used it on other phones (namely stock Android) where features were slim. But I don't see why you would want to use it on the V10. The LG UI has so many features. Namely: Transition effects, custom icons (albeit limited), you can get rid of the Google Search Bar!, home screen button button layout customization, etc...etc...

Re: how many people use Nova for launcher

DCIkonz is what I use.

You'll lose double tap to turn screen off. Screen on still works. But there is an app (screen off and lock) that solves that problem.

I'm using Sphere Theme w/Nova Prime

You can still use it w/ Nova, but you have to double tap on the status bar to turn the screen off. Screen on double tap still works of course.

OP,
I say just go ahead and grab Nova and give it a whirl. You can try the free version (but if you like it I'd upgrade to Prime). The great thing is that you can't mess anything up! Seriously, you can't! If you tinker with Nova and you dont like what you've made, then just go back to the stock LG launcher. No harm, no foul, you are only out some time...that's it.

If you go w/ Nova, do some searching for icon packs. The ones listed above are a good starting point. Also, be sure to check out the other recommendations on the screen. And if you find an icon designer you like, then click on their name & look at all the icon packs they've created. Couple of things I'd suggest w/ Icon packs is to see how many icons they have themed in the pack & see when the last time it was updated. I generally wont buy an icon pack w/ fewer than 2000-2500 icons. As far as last update, new apps comes out all the time, so you want icon packs that are getting updated or at relatively new so they'll have most of the apps you need it for.

Then you can start playing w/ weather widgets, clock widgets, etc, etc, etc. I easily spent a good 3 hours just putting a theme on my phone to have something I could live w/ for a while when I got it. I think it is kind of fun, and it can really make a phone feel fresh to me again after a while.

Sorry, reviving a dead thread here. But since it was specifically about Nova Launcher, I wanted to let folks know that Nova Launcher Prime, the unlocked paid version, is on sale for $0.99 in the Play Store.

Nova Prime just added 'double tap to lock' with its latest update.
