Hello. I have a new Subaru with Android Auto connected to my phone. It sees the Samsung Music app on the car's display but doesn't give me any way to select the music I want to play. I still have to select the music on my phone, which defeats the whole hands-free idea. Am I missing something or is this just the way it's supposed to work?

A few years ago Samsung Music didn't work for me with Android Auto, so I started using VLC and haven't looked back (to Samsung Music) since. For me, VLC at the Android Auto screen in my vehicle works well for selecting music to play and browsing my phone's music library and such. In theory, Samsung Music should also work with Android Auto. However, some others might have to chime in to confirm if it works for them.

Welcome to Android Central forums. Gemini says that you might have better results with the Google Play Store version of Samsung music. More than likely the version you have is from Samsung's Galaxy Store, so it says to uninstall your version and go to the Play Store and install that version.

What Samsung do you have?

Just real quick, I put your question in Google and it said it should be possible. You can read more about it here.

Yes, you should be able to select music tracks on your car stereo display when using the Samsung Music app with Android Auto. The inability to do so suggests a potential app or connection issue that can usually be resolved through a few troubleshooting steps.

Again, let us know what you find.
