Holding the back button has been mentioned in some places and it does work in some apps but in some older apps, it might not work. What I found to work was enabling the assistant menu and using the "more options" button.

The assistant menu can be activated in settings - accessibility - dexterity and interaction - assistant menu.

Haha, but this big thing is absolutely horrible to use.
There are also third party apps in the play store if you want, but I haven't tried. The point is that you get the menu key, if you have root, you can use pie too. I am just pointing out a way do it for people using legacy app...

Bulky is better than not being able to access features of an app that you need.

I realize this isn't ideal, if you know of a better way, please share.

^I see. My point was that Samsung's solutions aren't really thought through. They change software features (also hardware features nowadays) just for the sake of it, not because they turned out to be the best way to do it. Very inconsistent!

Thanks Dpham00. FuelLog was one such app. This work around allowed me to upload all my fuel up data for my vehicles.

This worked for one app but not for Glitch Tech Check register app, which was such a perfect app but the genius developer doesn't support it anymore. Shame
But thanks for letting us know.
This phone was definitely made for iPhone 6 users and not a step up from the Note 4
But I think I will keep it because of the Samsung pay, fingerprint and I think it will be supported well
But the Note 4 is still great

Most definitely. Samsung has been doing that for years removing features that were on previous phones
