using Webtop interface w/o dock

does anyone think or know if it's possible to use the Webtop interface without either of the docks (more specifically the multimedia dock, i don't care about the laptop dock)? Since the phone has its mini-HDMI out and a USB port on it itself, conceivably I would think you could just use that, and that the dock was a glorified USB hub. but for all I know, the interface activation/drivers could be built into the dock itself.
