So I'm thinking of buying a 2XL strictly for the camera, as a tech connoisseur, and because I think the panda colorway is amazing. My question is, when the Pixel 2 stops getting security updates, would it still be safe to use as a WiFi-only device? I mean, let's say I use it strictly as a camera, and keep it offline unless it's at home, and only with VPN turned on, would that be a plausible use for the phone? Would it be any different than any other outdated phone I keep around (Note 2, Note 4) for surfing the web and watching YouTube via wifi?
I guess my question is really, "what's the big deal about security updates?".
And yes, I know it sounds dumb basically asking about the importance of security...but I'd love to know specifics about how security updates actually keep my phone secure.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the ignorance.
