V10 overheating

I've only had an overheating problem once. Went into the battery in settings and found out a NY Rangers app was running at 80%! Never had a problem again, and battery life has always been great!

Same here. No overheating issues & my battery is OK. Only had the thing since Monday though.

I've had overheating issues and a replacement didn't fix it. Phone gets toasty during sustained use (long phone call especially)

Replacement worked great for awhile but has started getting hot again...not as bad as before and only with extended use of some apps though. Pokemon Go and Star Wars Force Collection seem to be the worse offenders and they are both resource hogs so it makes sense. Just something I have to live with at this point I guess.

Yeah those sports apps are terrible. Had the same problem with all the bay area team official apps... 49ers, Raiders and GS Warriors. Deleted them. Bummers.

I am having this problem a lot too. I get it when out in the sun... I do live in South Florida... But I also get it while charging at my desk and using the phone a lot. It actually get hot enough that the metal edges are hard to hold. This is one of a couple reasons I am switching phones.

I have the same problem when playing Pokemon Go, especially in the day time when the sun is out. It doesn't help that our office is a pokestop either, so while charging my phone on my desk I have a small desk fan pointed directly at my phone to keep it "cool"

This could be a symptom of the poor soldering on the processor. I don't know much about it but if this is the case it can eventually cause the dreaded bootloop problem.

It happened to me: phone overheated, froze and restarted -- this happened a few times in a few days and eventually went into a bootloop. I'm just now working on trying to fix it and so far it seems to be going okay (thankfully I was able to get my old phone working so I've just been using that).

Here's a youtube comment I found that seems to explain the problem really well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gp7AbZdsyc&lc=UgxlIdpf_Mc0o1OUuCF4AaABAg. If you happen to have some thermal paste lying around it's not too hard to apply it, if anything it wouldn't hurt. I did this in combination with heating up the processor with a heat gun to try to remelt the solder (as explained in the linked comment).

I ended up sending mine to LG for repair. They fixed it free even out of warranty. Just had to say it was overheating really bad and that I was afraid it would bootloop. Had it back in 2 weeks good as new.
