When I am talking using voice input I keep getting cut off after a few words. I have to keep repeating myself picking up where it cuts out. Not useable like this. It happens no matter which application I am in and no matter which keyboard I have active. This never happens on the Note3. Anyone know what might be going on? Thanks.

I have not experienced this but is us possible that you may have a bad mic.

Posted via the Android Central App with my two thumbs.

I have since found a few other forums and Google boards where people say the same thing happens to them since 5.1. But it is obviously not a wide spread problem given the low level of discussion about it. I don't think it is my mic as I use my phone a lot both to my ear and on speaker. Because it is a new phone, I ask people how I sound and they say it is great on their end.

I have done a fair amount of researching, and this problem definitely exists, and not in very small numbers. I experience the exact same issue. Others can't hear when I am speaking, (at times for up to 5 seconds), but it does "cut back in" after a bit. There are many theories at this point, with many pointing to the metal sides, but I have no idea what the problem may be. T-mobile says they have gotten calls with the same complaints, but they didn't have any real answers on how to fix the problem. They suggested waiting for the first update to be available. Some suggest turning off google voice, "OK Google" to eliminate that as a possibility of being the problem. If the first patch from Tmobile doesn't fix the problem, I will use Jump to get a different phone, as this issue negates all the positives about this phone. :-(
P.S. Another suggestion is to make sure "Noise Suppresion" is not activated.

Maybe change network to cdma from global?

It seems this issue is getting more visibility...
Here is a link for some possible fixes / suggestions regarding this mic volume issue on the V10:

Just paste this after the "you know what" in your browser, (I can't post links yet).

Just noticed a couple of replies I did not see back when I started this thread. Those replies and the link to the recomhub post are not what I was asking about. It seems there is confusion as to what I was describing in my original post, which still happens even now:

It only happens when I am speaking into the phone to do voice to text. Like dictating a text or email. This is not happening when I am talking on the phone. It is only when I touch the microphone button and get the speak now screen which transposes my spoken words to text.

I start to talk and after just a few words, varies from 5 or 6 words to maybe 8 or 10, the input stops. It is just as if I had stopped talking and it starts processing . However I have not hesitated, paused or stopped talking. It does not matter if I speak loudly or softly or if I am in a noisy or quiet environment. It just seems to only want to take a few words at a time. Annoying as I have to keep picking up where it cuts out, usually in mid sentence. It makes this feature almost unusable and just easier to type rather than speak. This voice input works perfectly on my Note3.
